Free classical music! (if you’re in school…)

June 1st, 2010 Posted in classical music

If you are in one of those fine institutes of learning known as “a university” then you might already have access to bazillions of online classical music recordings. Naturally I only worked this out in the last half-year (please please please oh god) of my PhD. You can check it out by going to your library website and finding the database section. Have a nose around in there for classical music related stuff. I found out we have the entire Naxos music library!

Great idea. The problem at my school is that loans for CDs are 2 days only. I always end up racking up huge fines for crappy CDs. Maybe I’ll acquire some discipline over time…

You are correct..100%..A little checking showed me that the public library gives free access to Alexander Street Press and here I was wading through ebay and amazon ( rolls her eyes)..btw..I dont know if you remember I had emailed you ,I did check out Saint-Saens ‘Piano Concerto number 2′ and liked it immensely ..thanks …
I heard this piece in Classical Radio “Polonaise for transverse flute, 2 violins, cello & harpsichord in G major :composer – J.G.Muthel(Musica Alta Ripa)”… it was ear-watering ( as in mouth-watering )..:)..

Many public libraries also offer access to streaming audio of classical music. That could be worth checking out.
